Rough sea panics villagers

Bhograi: The Bay of Bengal has become rough on the Bhograi coast in Balasore, particularly Saturday, amid heavy showers. Waves lashed a protective embankment along the 84-km stretch from Bhograi-Udaypur to Chandipur-Gopalpur.

Sea waves reportedly caused soil erosion on the protective embankment, leaving the people in nearby villages panicked.

Waves lashed Udaypur, Talsari, Subarnapur, Dandi, Kirtania, Chandbali, Balipal, Choumukh, Kankadapal, Dagara, Bahabalpur, Kasaphala and Chandipur.

Locals alleged that as sluice gates at different places have been defunct, sea water has entered the farmlands.

Hundreds of casuarina trees were flattened with the lashing of waves at Talsari Subarnadwipa.
