Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved Rs 155.92 crore for establishment of cancer care centres in three medical colleges and hospitals at Berhampur, Burla and Koraput. The administrative approval of the three projects was issued Thursday by the state Health and Family Welfare department.
A cancer care centre will be set up at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur at an estimated cost of Rs 76.29 crore. A G+3 building will be constructed along with other required infrastructure. Similarly, G+1 buildings will be set up at the SLN Medical College and Hospital, Koraput and VIMSAR, Burla, at an estimated cost of Rs 41.14 crore and Rs 38.48 crore, respectively.
However, the estimates are meant only for civil and other auxiliary infrastructure like electricity, water, drainage, etc. The costs do not include any medical equipment, sources said.
Notably, the Odisha government has been stressing on proper healthcare services particularly for those suffering from cancer.
