Bhubaneswar, August 18: Ramakrushna Sikhya Kendra (RSK) thrashed Tapovan High School (THS) 3-0 in the inaugural match of the 26th Inter- School MCL Cup football tournament at the Unit-VI High School Ground here Tuesday.
Abhinash Mahanta of the winning team opened the account in the third minute of the match. Hismate Baidyanath Murmu doubled the lead in the 17th minute. Debasis Kanhar nailed the final goal in the 21st minute to seal the fate of this lop-sided match.
Sudip Das, Saroj Moharana, Golak Pradhan and Dipti Ranjan Swain were the officials who conducted the match. Altogether 27 teams are participating in this competition.
OSJA meet
Orissa State Sports Journalists’ Association (OSJA) organised a meeting here Tuesday in memory of late sports journalist of the state Ashok Patnaik on the occasion of his 17th death anniversary. It was decided in the meeting that after a gap of four years, ‘Ashok Patnaik Sports Award’ will be given again from 2016.

Seventeen new trainees have been included in the Jagatpur SAI Rowing Centre in Cuttack, Tuesday. The rowers have been selected, based on their performance at a special selection camp by the centre. “With the inclusion of the new members the total number of the rowers has been increased to thirty. We are also going to open a sports medicine centre here very soon,” informed in-charge Manoj Kumar Bhadra.
