Bhubaneswar: The officials of the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) in Cuttack filed a thorough report on the youth Dusmanta Das, who died September 8 after attempting suicide in front of the Assembly over alleged medical mistreatment.
According to a source, a seven-member team of the medical experts led by its superintendent Lucy Das had prepared a report which was subsequently submitted to the Odisha government.
However, the SCBMCH administration has refuted the charges of any medical negligence in its report, the official source expressed.

It is pertinent to mention, the youth from Kujang area in Jagatsinghpur district was admitted to the health facility after sustaining injuries on his left leg in a road accident. A team of doctors from plastic surgery and orthopaedic departments had earlier conducted operation.
Unable to bear physical pain following the fatal road mishap and allegedly failed surgeries, the youth had attempted to die by suicide.
Dusmanta had slit his hands and consumed poison to end life.
The youth had sustained grievous injuries in the road mishap that took place March 22, 2020. Subsequently, he had got himself operated at SCBMCH March 23 following the fatal road mishap.
As Dusmanta’s wounds did not heal, a second surgical operation was conducted on his leg June 19 last year. He was sent back to his home from SCBMCH July 15, 2020 following Covid-19 outbreak.
The youth hailed from a poor family and was unable to spend money for further treatment. After running from pillar to post seeking help and after getting disheartened, he took the extreme step.
