Second Nayika Odissi dance festival held in the city

Bhubaneswar: Angaraga, a school of Odissi dance, presented their second Nayika Odissi dance festival at the Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar, here last Thursday. It was also the annual day celebration of Angaraga and many Odissi dancers performed.

The first performance was Mangalacharan by Angaraga students and the second one Kali Tandav by the Shivas Foundation.

The next one was Nityaabinay by the Guru Pankaj High Sanskriti Academy and the last one was a group performance of Parbaranga (based on 12 months 13 festival) by Angaraga students.

Awards were distributed at the function. The first was Bijayani Madhusmita for inspiring the young awarded by Snehaprava Samantray Yuva Pratima Samman and a cash prize of Rs 5,000. The second was the Naika Award which was given to Purnashree Rout. It carried a cash prize of Rs 5,000.

At the end of the function dancers like Guru Sanjukta Pradhan, Guru Pallavi Das and Guru Chitrasen Swain were honoured.

The function was attended by Director of Culture Bijay Kumar Nayak, L.N. Agarwal, Director Hemoraj and Rakesh Kumar Shami, the Chief Engineer of CPWD and members of the dance school.
