Deogarh: A security guard allegedly attempted suicide Monday night and died Tuesday while undergoing treatment at District Health Hospital (DHH), Deogarh.
The deceased has been identified as Saroj Meher, son of Satya Meher.
Saroj worked as a security guard at Deogarh Covid-19 hospital. It had been a few days since he was transferred to Reserve Police Office. His parents and younger brother worked for an organisation in Cuttack.
According to locals, Saroj had requested his parents to come to Deogarh Monday noon and even warned them that he would consume poison if they do not turn up.
He might have lost his life right after his parents failed to come but his neighbours rescued him and rushed him to DHH, however, he succumbed to the poison while undergoing the treatment.
Meanwhile, the deceased’s parents and younger brother reached Deogarh.
On getting the information, police reached the hospital and sent the body for postmortem. A detailed investigation is underway.
