Sambalpur: A 55-year-old security guard was hacked to death Sunday by a youth of the locality for his opposing the latter’s extramarital affair with his wife.
The bizaree incident has been reported from Satupali village under Chiplima police limits in this district late Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Krushna Chandra Ghesara.
While the incident occurred Saturday night, the matter came to the fore Sunday morning after Krushna’s body was found on road near a rice mill, around 100 metres away from Satupali square this morning.
On receipt of information, police reached the village and launched a probe. The body was seized and sent for autopsy.
After the preliminary investigation, the police suspected that it was murder over illicit relation.
According to Manasi (12), the elder daughter of the deceased, her father Krushna worked as a security guard in IP Rice Mill. He used to leave for duty every night. Taking advantage, a youth of the locality had developed an illicit affair with her mother (45). The youth used to frequently visit their house in the absence of her father.
Things took an ugly turn between the couple after the villagers suspected of the illicit affair and alerted Krushna. This created rift between the couple who objected to their meeting.
As usual, he had a war of words with his wife before going to duty. He had also warned the youth to mend his ways.
Infuriated, the youth hatched a plan to eliminate Krushna. As per plan, he attacked him with a sharp edged weapon and hacked Krushna to death and subsequently dumped the body on the road.
A police team conducted raid at the youth’s house and arrested him who later confessed to the crime, sources said. A further probe is on, police said.
