Bhubaneswar: The directorate of textiles and handlooms is making all-out efforts to ensure early establishment of the proposed Orissa State Sericulture Research and Training Institute (OSSRTI) in the state.
The proposal to establish the research institute in Orissa has been approved by the state government, which has allocated land for the purpose. According to sources, work for establishment of OSSRTI will commence soon.
In a recent move, the department has decided to send a five-member team to Karnataka to learn about the infrastructure requirements and training facilities required for establishment of the proposed training institute here.
During their four-day tour, the delegation is likely to visit sericulture training institutions like Karnataka State Sericulture Research and Development Institute (Thalgatpur) and Central Sericulture and Training Institute (Mysore).
