Khurda/Begunia/Jatni, April 6: A seven-member team of Srimandir servitors reached Khurda Monday as part of Banajaga Yatra rituals for search of timber for the Nabakaelbar festival in Puri.
On the second day of the search for logs for the Trinity (Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra) and Lord Sudarshan, the team travelled Mahulagaon under Jatni block, Chhiam of Begunia block and Madhapur of Khurda block. The team comprising six Daitapati servitors and led by Shiba Dasmohapatra thoroughly examined the trees and vital insignia thereof as to ensure they would be fit for the remake of the idols. They also asked several questions to the villagers regarding the trees, said sources.
However, they prevented a host of mediapersons from capturing the videos and pictures of the trees and the rituals. The team spotted a tree and took its picture and video. However, they requested the media not to disclose the name of the place where the tree was spotted. The process of the search for timbers would continue for another five-six days, the servitors said.
