Aradi: As many as seven rooms of a house were reduced to ashes at Kathamunda Ghoda Sahi near Raipur panchayat of Dhamnagar block in Bhadrak district late Thursday.
Valuables worth lakhs of rupees, including electronic gadgets, important documents, ornaments and groceries were reduced to ashes.
No injuries were reported as the family members had gone to watch an ‘opera’ in a nearby village, according to reports.
The fire spread to neighbouring houses quickly. However, locals rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. Later, a fire tender team doused the blaze.
While the exact reason of the fire was yet to be ascertained, officials suggested that electric short-circuit could be the factor behind the accident.
Revenue officials inspected the site Friday morning and also prepared a report on the losses suffered by the family.
Necessary compensation will be provided soon to the family, officials said.
