Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: IM P Shyamnikhil (7.5) of Tamil Nadu clinched the title at the Keshabnanda Memorial All India Open FIDE Rating Chess Championships which concluded here, Wednesday. IM Swayams Mishra of Orissa finished second with seven points in his kitty while IM VAV Rajesh (seven) of AAI finished third.
On the last day Shyamnikhil played out a stalemate with Rajesh in the ninth round while Swayams also played out a draw with Tamil Nadu’s IM Bhuvanesh R Ramnath (6.5).
Among other state participants, Smaraki Mohanty (six) also drew with IM V Koshy of ONGC while the Aparajita Gochhikar (4.5)- Harshit Ranjan Sahu (4.5) game failed to produce any result.
Meanwhile, WGM Kiran Manisha Mohanty (5.5) and Biswajit Nayak (5.5) defeated their ninth round opponents Maharashtra’s S Aditya Samant (4.5) and CM Shahil Dey (4.5) of Assam respectively.
Rakesh Kumar Nayak (5.5), WFM Rutumbara Bidhar (five), Rajendra Kumjar Sahu (five), Sambit Panda (five) and Rajesh Kumar Nayak (4.5) lost their ninth round matches.
Rakesh lost to GM MR Venkatesh (6.5) of PSPB while, Bidhar lost to Telengana’s Sai Jeevitesh (six).
