Sundargarh: As many as six people were killed in separate road mishaps in Sundargarh, Ganjam and Nuapada district Saturday.
In the first instance, three persons were killed after an over-speeding truck skidded off the main road and rammed into a roadside juice shop at Kutra Bazaar in Sundargarh district late Friday night.
The deceased have been identified as Brijesh Souria, Jilendar Sonakar and Udar Sunakar, all hailing from Uttar Pradesh.
The trio from UP were running a roadside juice shop and were asleep when the mishap occurred.
The driver of the truck lost control over the wheels following which the vehicle rammed into the shop killing the three persons.
While Udhar died on the spot, the two others succumbed while being taken to the Burla-based VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR).
Angry locals detained the accused driver and helper of the truck and handed them over to police. The truck was seized and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
Similarly, a biker was killed in a head-on collision with an auto-rickshaw while coming out of a petrol pump on Digapahandi-Shergad road in Ganjam district Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Babula Swain of Gandhi Chhak in Patapur.
Sources said when Babula was going towards Shergard on his motor cycle, his vehicle collided head-on with an auto coming from a different direction.
Locals rushed Babula to Shergad hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.
In another accident at Nuapada, two people were killed in head-on collision between two bikes near Khutabanbhera here Friday night. The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
