Bhubaneswar: The upcoming Parliament election could be crucial for the fortunes of Congress in the country, but the state unit of the party are still indulged in tumult, reports said.
The ongoing war of words between PCC president Niranjan Patnaik and former union minister Srikant Jena is an example of infighting in the state unit of Congress.
Launching a verbal attack on Jena, Patnaik Saturday told reporters: “Srikantbabu more often than not says a lot about his ignorance. Spinning story is his second nature. He has spun such stories about Bijubabu too, in yesteryears. Only time will say whether the Congress has transparency or not.”
In his prompt reaction to the media, Jena said: “Even for crafting-tales- practice is essential. The government’s role in not making the names of mine mafias public cannot be ruled out. And if it is in no way connected with him, why is he coming up with his answers.”
Jena said that he always stands with Patel even if he does not ask for it. “Now, Niranjanbabu should try to win the trust of people to get back the lost votes,” he added.
Soon after Patnaik clarified that there are no mines in his name, some speculative reports have gone viral on social media sites.
Sources say Patnaik has already designed a plot to show the door to Jena.
