Bhubaneswar: Aggrieved by prolonged delays in the State Selection Board (SSB) lecturer recruitment, aspirants have announced a gherao of the Assembly September 22.

Aspirants said that for years, thousands of post-graduate candidates have awaited progress in the stalled SSB lecturer recruitment. Court cases and repeated adjournments have left them in limbo, with the next hearing set for October 9, but fears of another delay looming.

“We have been waiting endlessly, but nothing has moved forward.

Our patience has run out,” said Parameswar Bal, an SSB lecturer aspirant, urging the government to ensure the case is settled October 9 and the exam date announced without further delay.

Echoing similar frustration, another aspirant, Hari Sankar, said, “We will not allow the future of educated youths to be played with any longer. Our clear demand is that the case must end October 9, and the examination should be held in December.”

The aspirants argue that years of preparation, financial strain, and the risk of crossing the upper age limit for government jobs have compounded their struggles. Many feel psychologically drained due to the uncertainty.

With the Assembly gherao, aspirants have warned the government that they will intensify their agitation if their demands are not met.

“This is only a beginning. If justice is delayed again, we will have no choice but to escalate our protest,” Bal added.
