Bhubaneswar: Ensuring that social security benefits reach intended beneficiaries effectively and on time will be a key priority of the Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (SSEPD) department, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Brundha D said on assuming charge Wednesday.
Brundha stressed the need for closer coordination among departmental officers and effective communication at every level to improve the implementation and delivery of welfare schemes.
She also called for greater use of technology and data-driven monitoring mechanisms, coupled with stronger field-level coordination, to ensure effective implementation, monitoring and delivery of social security programmes.
The senior bureaucrat sought the continued cooperation and collective support of officers and employees to advance the government’s commitment to social security, dignity, inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities and senior citizens.
Following her assumption of charge, she interacted with senior departmental officers and received a detailed briefing on the department’s mandate, major welfare initiatives, ongoing programmes, organisational matters and key areas of intervention concerning persons with disabilities, senior citizens, transgender persons and other vulnerable sections.
Brundha also emphasised the need to streamline administrative processes and strengthen organisational coordination at all levels for transparent and time-bound implementation of welfare schemes and programmes.
