Bhubaneswar, Sept 14: After achieving 78 per cent Aadhaar enrolment by August, the state government is aiming to reach 100 per cent coverage by December 31 this year. The state had earlier targeted to achieve it by October 31 this year.
“Very soon we will deploy more kits in Orissa. The district administrations in the state are taking proactive steps and enrollment has been expedited. We hope to complete 100 per cent enrolment by end of December 2016,” deputy director general of UADAI, MVS Rami Reddy said here after attending a meeting with chief secretary AP Padhi, Wednesday.
While it targeted to enroll around 4.43 crore persons taking into account the expected population of 2015, Aadhaar numbers of around 3.45 crore persons have been generated by August end, sources said.
The state government has covered around 78 per cent population so far. Similarly, Aadhaar seeding of the beneficiaries of public distribution system has been around 69 per cent against the national seeding average of around 61 per cent.
The seeding in Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) has gone up to 61 per cent, they said.
Reviewing the progress through video conferencing with collectors, Padhi directed them to adopt the method of gram panchayat level saturation model for the enrolment of balance 99.36 lakh persons.
Padhi also directed the collectors to give special focus on anganwadi centers, schools and hostels for Aadhaar enrollment of the students left so far. The collectors were further advised to make use of the house-to-house Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) survey data available in school and mass education department.
Government has requested Unique Identification authority of India (UADAI) to enhance the deployment of kits and operators along with necessary equipments and staff to 2,550.
