Bhubaneswar, April 20: The state government’s plan expenditure grew by 35 per cent to Rs 40,498.71 crore in the financial year 2015-16 as compared with 2014-15 period.
Special secretary finance Vishal Dev presented the fiscal performance of various departments during 2015-16 which showed that expenditure in agriculture and allied sector has been Rs 8,498.27 crore, up 20.12 per cent than that of previous fiscal year. Similarly, infrastructure sector spending has been to the tune of Rs 12,122 crore, which is 17 per cent more than that of the previous fiscal. Notably, this sector has achieved 93.36 per cent utilization of the budget outlay. Meanwhile, investment in social sector has been Rs 16, 937.25 crore, which is 13.83 per cent higher than FY15.
Revenue generation by the state has also seen uptick, keeping track of rising expenditure. Giving figures for revenue generation during the last financial year, Dev said revenue generation has been enhanced to Rs 30,566.73 crore, which is around 10 per cent higher than that of last fiscal. While, revenue collection from own tax sources has been Rs 22,418.29 crore, it stood at Rs 30,566.73 crore from non-tax sources. In spite of slowdown in mining sector, royalty collection from mining sector was at Rs 5,716.80 crore, which is around 8 per cent higher than that of pervious fiscal.
