Dharakote: At least seven persons were injured after a stray dog suspected of having rabies went on a biting spree over the past two days in Kusurab, Lakshmipur and Bariguda villages under Dharakote block in Ganjam district.

The injured persons were identified as Bipra Pradhan, Ramesh Goud, Ashwini Dakua, Indra Raut and Kashinath Jena of Kusurab village, Biswanath Das of Lakshmipur and Banamali Das of Bariguda village under the block.

All of them were administered treatment and anti-rabies vaccines at the Aska Sub-Divisional Hospital.

Fear has gripped the villagers as the dog roamed the streets, targeting residents of all ages.

Panicked residents are reluctant to allow children outdoors alone. Locals urged the administration to take immediate action to address the menace.
