Bhubaneswar, Jan 18: The Biju Chhatra Janata Dal (BCJD), the students’ of wing of the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD), is all set to hold a state-level meet January 20 to be inaugurated by BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.
The student wing, which plans to air its meet live on the web, claims that this will be the first ever digital meet in the state.
More than 20,000 students will attend the meet to be held at Unit-9 Rashtra Bhasa Prachar Ground here, BCJD said.
People from all over the state, especially students and youth, can see the meeting live by just clicking on www.bjdodisha.org.in, said the members of the students’ wing members.
The youth can also watch the proceedings of the meet live by using their smartphones, they said.
“With growing digitization, BCJD has decided to take this initiative to spread awareness about BJD’s development agenda and pro-people schemes implemented for the benefit of the people of the state,” said BJD MLA and BCJD president Byomokesh Ray, while addressing the media at BJD party office Sunday.
“LCD displays will cover the entire stage to facilitate students and people to watch the meet clearly,” said BCJD secretary Manas Ranjan Mallick.
BCJD members said that a speech of Orissa’s late Chief Minister Biju Patnaik will also be screened.
Last year, 95 per cent of the students supported by BCJD won college elections across the state, sources said.
In this backdrop, the students’ wing plans to expand its base in other spheres of student life and win the heart of hundreds and thousands of youths of the state.
Several discussion and debate session will be held during the meet in which education related topics such as the current education scenario, education infrastructure, hostel facilities for students, education loan facility for students in the state will be raised.
Several state ministers, MLAs, BJD youth leaders, BCJD members and leaders will also participate in the meet.
