Berhampur: Several Plus III final year science students of colleges affiliated under Berhampur University here in Ganjam district Tuesday have demanded grace marks for their recently concluded Physics examination alleging that they were posed several out-of-syllabus questions.
Two questions carrying 40 marks were out-of-syllabus, the students said, adding that they should be given grace marks. The students also sought the intervention of the university’s vice-chancellor and professors in the matter.
The science final-year exams concluded 12 days back and the evaluation of answer sheets will begin Wednesday. In the current year, three centres – Koraput DAV College, Bhanjanagar Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja College and Berhampur University – have been chosen as evaluation centres.
Students claimed they would be deprived of getting admission into prestigious higher education institutes if they are to be denied the grace marks for the two out-of-syllabus questions in the Physics question paper.
While the date for evaluation of the Physics paper is yet to be ascertained, students said they are apprehending that authorities will try to suppress the mater.
Hundreds of students of Bhanjanagar Kabisamrat Upendra Bhanja College and Sabitri Women’s College wrote a petition addressed to their college principals asking them to bring the issue to the notice of the board director. The college principals accepted the petitions and sent it to the examination board in Berhampur University, sources said.
Meanwhile, another question of Physics paper-5 was also learnt to be out-of the syllabus. This led to anxiety among students. Even though the final year examinations concluded 12 days back, the university authorities are mum on the matter, leading to students getting agitated.
Meanwhile, the Plus III second year examinations are set to begin April 4 even as results of Plus III first year examination are yet to be released. Students sought quick announcement of the results. PNN
