post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 3: Numerous students from the B K College of Arts and Crafts, Khandagiri, Friday joined hands with those, who want to preserve the beauty of the city through some innovative moves.
Students armed with paints, brushes, creative zeal and ambition descended on the Rajmahal Square flyover to paint its sidewalls and give the flyover an artistic touch. Many young budding artists were seen engrossed in drawing tribal paintings to liven up the concrete wall.
The students toiled hard the whole day through sunshine and later mild rains to give their thoughts final shapes. Although, they spend a good amount of time painting their imaginations on the wall, the students said it would take around two more days of hard work to complete this work related to the beatification of the city.
Surendra Nath Sahoo, a student of the college said, “We are working with the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation to infuse the dull walls with an artistic touch. We are trying tribal paintings on these walls to make these more attractive to the passers-by. After the whole work, the area will have quite a different look.
“We are using basically two colours. One is the brick colour, which we are using to make a background and painting on it with while colour. This is how tribal paintings on terracotta are made. Different people are painting different images from their imagination. We are happy to do this work, as this will increase the beauty of the place.”
The students who began their work at 9 am got inspiration from the passers-by, who stopped to observe what they were doing and praised them before leaving the spot.
