post news network, Bhubaneswar, July 9: Several students from diverse backgrounds from all over the world will soon debate on several burning issues that the world has been grappling with. A global conference of youths is slated to be held in the city in this regard.
Come October 30 the young minds from different parts of the globe will descend on the Capital city to take part in the discussions – much in line with what take place in the United Nations (UN) – organised by the Kalinga Institute of Industrial Training (KIIT). The institution has decided to hold its third model UN conference on its premises in another three-and-a-half month’s time.
According to the organisers the conference is expected to host more than 2,000 delegates from India and other countries such as Italy, the Netherlands and Greece among others.
When asked about the motive behind organising such a conference, Nabadip Deb, a 4th year BTech student from KIIT and the secretary general of this year’s proposed conference, said, “By giving their consent to take part in the model UNs the student community represents the change they wish to see in the world, because it is the youth which can build a safer, more just, world by promoting the values and principles upheld by the UN.”
The university has already held two such conferences in the last two years. The conference this year has tied up with such prestigious model UNs (MUN) from around the world as the Paris International MUN, Rome MUN, MUN of Hague, Asia Pacific MUN Conference, Moscow MUN, Balkan MUN and Singapore MUN among others.
Last year, reputed television journalist Rajat Sharma participated in the event, as its chief guest, which witnessed a good participation of students from all over the universe.
