Bhubaneswar,: Bollywood singer Sukhwinder Singh was in the city for a musical night at Janata Maidan here Friday.
He had the audience tapping their feet to popular numbers including ‘Chaiyaa Chaiyaa’, ‘Dabangg’, ‘Jai Ho’ and ‘Gajanana’. He also put his rapping skills on show.
Before the event the singer interacted with the media. “I am excited about performing in the city. I am emotionally and spiritually connected with the city,” Sukhwinder said.
He had come to the city last year but the show got cancelled. “This time I am going to enjoy myself thoroughly on stage,” the singer promised. And he seems to have kept his word given the response from the audience.
The singer had a good year in 2015 as he got to lend voice for numbers in films such as ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. “In 2016, my fans will hear me in movies such as ‘Jai Gangajaal’ and ‘Rangoon’,” Sukhwinder added.
I have been singing numbers of many flavours and moods, ranging from devotional to peppy songs.
“One has to enjoy one’s work. Generally I record my songs when I am in a happy mood. I often dance during the recording of songs. If I am joyful, and enjoy the lyrics and music, I feel my fans would definitely enjoy them,” he said.
The singer is also mightily impressed by the cultural wealth of the state. “The state is rich in classical music. It attracts young music lovers. But modernization is required. The state needs to learn from others so that the industry would flourish.” PNN
