Jharsuguda: With Jharsuguda Assembly constituency all set to witness triangular contest between BJD, Congress and BJP in the 2019 general elections, nominees are leaving no stones unturned to attract voters – with at least one of them employing Hindi movie stars to draw crowd to their campaign.
BJD candidate Nabakishore Das has roped in Hindi movie actors Suniel Shetty and Mahima Chaudhry for his campaign. They travelled across several parts of the constituency this Friday and called out voters to choose Das in the polls. Thousands of people assembled to get a glimpse of the two stars.
The actors addressed gatherings at H. Katapali, Bombay Square and Jhanda Square along with Bargarh Lok Sabha BJD candidate Prasanna Acharya, MLA candidate Nabakishore Das, his wife Minati Das and son Bishal Das.
Naba along with the two stars took out a rally from Bombay Square and Jhanda Square and wooed the voters apart from promising several developmental works in the area.
Worth mentioning, he was the working president of Congress in the state and is a sitting MLA from this constituency. He contested and won under Congress banner in 2014 polls and had defeated BJD candidates twice — in 2009 and 2014 assembly elections.
Further, he is also credited with ensuring Congress victory during 2017 zilla parishad polls.
In March last year, Das praised Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik at a function in his constituency and had said that Jharsuguda had witnessed considerable development because of the Chief Minister’s untiring efforts.
Few months later, he switched over to BJD after a long drawn battle with state chiefs of Congress.
