Cuttack: Sunrise Club emerged champions of the Ist FAO Super Cup after scraping past Rising Student Club 2-1 in the final at the flood-lit Barabati Stadium here Sunday.
Sunrise Club opened their account as early as in the 11th minute through Gurpreet Singh. However their joy was shot lived as Lakhai Murmu restored parity for Rising Student just after a minute. Both the teams maintained the 1-1 deadlock till the half time.
After the change of ends Md Fayas scored the winning goal for the Sunrise Club in the 70th minute.
Sports Minister Chandra Sarathi Behera joined as the chief guest and distributed the prizes. Sunrise Club was presented a cash award of Rs 1,00,000 along with the winners’ trophy. Rising Student Club took home Rs 50,000 along with the runners-up trophy

CDA, DAV School players performed splendidly to emerge champions in the U-11 girls’ team event of the CBSE East Zone Inter-School Chess Championship in Guwahati, Sunday. They also finished runners-up in the U-11 girls’ team event.
