Rayagada: Jawans of BSF’s 149th battalion Thursday observed Surgical Strike Diwas here. Many defence officials including BSF commandant Shivananda Yadav, deputy commandant OP Mina, inspector Rakesh Kumar Singh and others attended a programme held on the occasion at the local Kendriya Vidyalaya. School principal SN Singh and many jawans were present on the occasion.
Inaugurating the programme, commandant Yadav delivered a speech to evoke sense of patriotism among the students. “Security of the nation is as important as self-defence,” said Yadav.
He advised senior students to maintain punctuality. BSF officials also held an exhibition of arms and ammunition for students on the occasion.
The students recited the National Song on the occasion while all teachers were present.
