Keonjhar: A three-member team comprising 5T Secretary VK Pandian, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Managing Director Shalini Pandit and Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra visited the Keonjhar district headquarters hospital (DHH) to review the implementation of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ initiative Sunday.
The top bureaucrats took stock of the healthcare facilities at the orthopaedics, medicine, child and obstetrics wards.
The officials interacted with the patients and enquired about the quality of treatment, the conduct of doctors and nurses, disbursal of free medicines, food, sanitation and diagnostics facilities.
The 5T Secretary said the team is visiting various parts of the state to see if the beneficiaries are drawing the benefits of the ‘Mo Sarkar’ programme.
He advised the doctors and paramedics to work sincerely to provide treatment to patients.
Expressing happiness over the healthcare delivery at the DHH, Pandian said Keonjhar district will set a new benchmark in the sector.
The team had mid-day-meal with the inmates of Manjari Sishu Bhawan.
Pandit asked the doctors and staff to be committed to healthcare delivery. She said vacancies will be filed up to ensure proper healthcare in all hospitals in the district.
Meanwhile, surprise checks were carried out at three other state-run hospitals Sunday as part of an exercise to gauge the implementation of ‘Mo Sarkar’. Three teams comprising officers of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and the health department visited the district headquarters hospitals of Puri, Dhenkanal and Jajpur during the day, an official statement said. The team members spoke to the patients at the three hospitals and obtained feedback from them about the facilities available and related matters.
The “Mo Sarkar” programme, launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Gandhi Jayanti, is a feedback system, which finds its roots in the Gandhian philosophy of giving people a voice in governance.
Under the initiative, the CM, ministers and senior officials will be dialing random numbers for feedback on the quality of service received in police stations and government-run hospitals.
