Bhubaneswar, May 29: Final listing of beneficiaries under the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) in the state will be completed by June 30, sources from the rural development department said.
While the Centre has made provisions to provide financial aid to beneficiaries in rural areas for construction of toilets under the mission, the rural development department of the state government had conducted a baseline survey across the state and had identified 90 lakh beneficiaries.
Though it submitted the list for uploading on the website within deadline, it sought more time from the Centre to rectify errors which occurred during the enlisting, which the officials said would be finalised by June 30 this year and would be sent to the concerned Union ministry.
The state government under this mission has set a target to provide financial aid for constructing 20 lakh toilets by March 2016.
Rural development secretary PK Mahapatra said each beneficiary will be provided Rs 12,000 for construction of toilets under this mission.
As part of the cleanliness and sanitation drive, the state government has aimed at setting up 79 lakh toilets within five years from the date of implementation in the state.
