LA: As summer heat intensifies, so does the bug invasion, and not even talented Grammy-winning artist Taylor Swift is spared from their unwelcome presence. The Karma hit-maker during her recent Eras Tour performance at Soldier Field in Chicago, experienced an unexpected interruption.

In the middle of her Sunday night show, Taylor Swift briefly halted her performance amid a coughing fit. Turning away from the crowd, the singer revealed, “I swallowed a bug.” Then she quickly apologized, assuring her fans that it was a minor inconvenience.

“It’s totally fine. It’s just stupid,” she chuckled, lightening the mood and eliciting laughter from the concertgoers. Taylor Swift playfully remarked, “That was delicious. Is there any chance none of you saw that” eliciting a massive laughter from her fans.

The incident took place as she introduced the newest member of her band, pianist Karina DePiano when the insect made its way into her mouth. Aware of the prevalence of bugs around the state, Swift jokingly warned the audience, “This is going to happen again tonight. There’s so many bugs. There’s 1,000 of them.”

However,  undeterred by the possibility of swallowing more bugs, Taylor Swift continued with the show, transitioning into the Evermore era segment. Moments later, she properly introduced DePiano again, coughed a bit more, and seamlessly moved on to perform “Tolerate It.”

Despite the challenge of battling bugs on stage, Taylor Swift has numerous upcoming stops on her Eras Tour. This includes newly added concerts in Mexico, Argentina, and Brazil, where she will be joined by pop singer Sabrina Carpenter. She took to Twitter to announce these additional dates and promised her fans “LOTS more international dates to come soon!”

As the name implies, The Eras Tour showcases Taylor Swift’s illustrious 17-year music career, with each section paying homage to a different phase. Originally planned to conclude in August with shows in Los Angeles, the tour now grants the artist a few weeks of respite before she embarks on the Latin American leg. With the inclusion of these extra dates, the Eras Tour will boast an impressive total of 60 concerts, a remarkable feat considering the reported three-hour duration of Taylor Swift’s captivating performances.

While swatting away flies may keep her occupied on stage, the supremely-talented artist has more than just concerts on her summer agenda. Taylor is swiftly approaching the release of her next album, as she continues re-recording her discography. Her latest re-recording, Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), is set to debut July 7.
