Keonjhar: Chui, a famous ‘namkeen’ vendor at Gandhi Chhak in Keonjhar district, has held his ground in terms of customers despite several hurdles and challenges in a career spanning over 30 years.

His shop is famous for ‘Chui Mixture’ whose owner Raghunath Behera is popularly known as Chui in the locality. His day begins with making mixtures, ganthia, sev, nimki and peanut pokadas, all crunchy and yummy, and sells them to the customers in the evening.

The smell of his puffed rice mixture attracts the commuters towards his shop. Some customers eat the puffed-rice mixture at the stall and get it packed for home.

When Chui was asked about the secret ingredient of his popularity, he said, it’s the love and affection of the customers.

He added he maintains quality in his products. He uses good quality of gram, sunflower oil and flour in every product. Moreover, all these are prepared hygienically. Three varieties of mixture – plain, spicy and sweet – are his signature products.

Chui considers the health of his customers most important. So, he says, he prepares snacks with utmost care and perfection.

Chui is a resident of Hatiatangar in Keonjhar district. He lives with his wife and two sons. His elder son has completed his +2 while his younger son is in Class VIII. His wife helps him in the mixture making work.
