Bhubaneswar: Nor’wester storms lashed Odisha Thursday, bringing temperatures down by more than 2 degrees Celsius in several districts of the state.
Only seven cities recorded temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius, with Bolangir posting the highest at 42.2 degrees, according to the Regional Meteorological Centre.

The department issued an orange alert for the Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts, warning of heavy rain, strong winds, thunderstorms, and possible hail Friday. Twenty-one other districts, including Cuttack, Puri, Khurda, Ganjam and Koraput, were placed under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and gusty winds.
Friday, heat advisories were issued for 15 districts, including Bolangir, Kalahandi, Angul and Cuttack, where hot and humid conditions are expected to persist through the day.
Saturday, yellow alerts for rain and thunderstorms were extended to 21 districts, including Balasore, Bhadrak, Puri, Ganjam and Kandhamal.
