Bhubaneswar, Feb 6: A day after the state government appointed Justice MM Das to head the commission of inquiry probing the chit fund scam in the state, the terms of reference (ToR) are set to undergo a change.
“The state government is doing everything to ensure that the investors who have suffered losses in the chit fund scam get their money back. For this, the scope of investigation by the commission will be widened,” said law minister Arun Kumar Sahu.
The terms of reference will include a new clause for refund of money to depositors.
More provisions are also likely to be added for broadening the scope of probe.
The state government had issued a notification on the terms of reference for the commission of inquiry, which was published in the Orissa Gazette in July 2013.
Justice Das was appointed as the head the commission following the sudden demise of Justice RK Patra, who was heading the one-man commission, January 28.
The commission of inquiry was set up in July 2013 to find out genuine investors who suffered loss in the multi-crore scam. The state government has set up a `300 crore corpus to protect the interest of depositors.
The digitisation process may also undergo some change now, sources said.
“We are analysing the parameter fixed earlier for digitisation and in the process of bringing slight modification in it as ratified by the commission of inquiry,” said RN Pallei, executive director, Orissa Computer Application Centre.
