Basudevpur: Thieves broke into a house in Dayanidhipur village under Balimed panchayat of Bhadrak district late Tuesday night and fled with gold jewellery valued at around Rs 7 lakh, a source said.
The incident took place at the home of Santosh Nayak in the jurisdiction of Naikanidihi Police Station. The source informed that the culprits broke open a window grill and door before entering the house. They allegedly stole three gold chains, two gold bangles, two pairs of earrings, one locket, four gold rings and two pairs of anklets from a drawer.
At the time of the robbery, Nayak’s wife, Laxmipriya, and their children were asleep in another room. She discovered the break-in early Wednesday morning when she went to use the toilet and found the window grill broken. She alerted her husband, who later complained to the police station.

IIC of Naikanidihi Police Station Rajalaxmi Nayak along with ASI Anil Sethi and a scientific team, visited the spot and launched an investigation.
