Berhampur: Berhampur police Monday arrested three persons for allegedly stabbing a 46-year-old contractor, an officer said.
The accused were arrested from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, Superintendent of Police, Berhampur, Saravana Vivek M said.
The injured person was identified as Sonu alias Dheeraj Mohan Choudhury of Gosaninuagaon, who was allegedly stabbed by the accused persons near Ramalingam Park here Sunday evening. After committing the crime, the accused fl ed to Andhra Pradesh to evade arrest.
The SP said that a police team arrested the trio near Srikakulam. “Long-standing enmity between them was stated to be the cause of the incident. However, we are still investigating to find out the exact cause of the stabbing,” he said.
The weapons used to commit the crime and the blood-soaked dresses of the victim and accused were seized, the police said.
The injured person is undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here and his condition was stated to be stable.
