Bhawanipatna: Rampur Police have arrested three persons in connection with the murder of BJP leader Fakira Rana, husband of Domkarlakhunta Sarpanch Snigdha Rana, in Odisha’s Kalahandi district Friday.
The accused have been identified as Tulsiram Sahu and Surasingh Patra of Domkarlakhunta village, and Baladev Sahu of Phatamunda.
Addressing a press conference, Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Nagraj Devarakonda said the three accused had been arrested and that the motive behind the murder could be past enmity.
According to reports, Fakir Rana was allegedly chased for nearly 100 metres and repeatedly stabbed near the Damkarlakhunta gram panchayat office at around 7:30 pm Wednesday.
A case was registered at M. Rampur Police Station Thursday after the victim’s son lodged a written complaint.
