Cuttack: Badambadi police busted a fake tobacco and cosmetic manufacturing unit at Shankarpur’s Das Sahi here Saturday and arrested the key person behind the unit.
The accused, Prabhat Kumar Sahu, 52, is a resident of Bishram Nagar area under Badambadi police limits. He was selling duplicates of branded products since two years
Police said spurious products like flavouring essence, liquid fabric whitener, fairness cream and zarda were seized from the unit along with packaging machines, labels and packets of different brands.
According to preliminary investigation, accused Prabhat used to work as a salesman for a fake tobacco unit from where he learned to run the illicit business. Later, he started his own business by procuring raw materials from Kolkata.
Based on a complaint by the Gopal Tobacco Company January 3, police registered a case (36/18) and a probe was launched. PNN
