Poveglia Island, Venice, Italy
This wonderful island was once a quarantine zone for people suffering from plague. They were burnt and buried alive here. In the 20th century, the island was turned into an asylum and is said that the place was full of ghosts that made the doctor of the asylum do strange things and they ended up taking his life. Even now, the place is doomed and the visitors who had been there have reported of witnessing seeing fleeting and dark shadows. Some have even claimed that they felt the presence of something evil as soon as they stepped on the island.
Bhangarh Fort, Rajasthan, India
Legend has it that there used to be a tantrik, Singhia, who tried using black magic to win the heart of the Princess of Bhangarh, Ratnavatil. But when she got to know about his evil plans, she ordered him killed. He cursed the entire village of dying and remaining roofless their entire lives before breathing his last.
Raynham Hall, Norfolk, England
Known as the Brown Lady of Raynham Hall, the ghost makes its presence felt and many have witnessed the same. In the 1936 edition of Country Life, a British weekly magazine, they claimed that they have captured the photo of the ghost on camera and it is named Brown lady because she was wearing a dress of the same colour. Legends have it that the ghost is of Lady Dorothy Walpole who was the sister of the first PM of Great Britain, Robert Walpole.
Fern Hill Hotel, Ooty, India
This hotel of Ooty does not have a legend but some real-life experiences of people. Remember the hotel in Raaz in which Bipasha Basu aka Sanjana stays? Well, it’s the same hotel and it is said that during the shoot of the film, when the cast was sleeping at night, they heard some noise on the first floor and when next day they asked about the same, the hotel staff informed them that there is no first floor there which left everyone shocked. This is just one of the many incidents that took place there which eventually led to the shutdown of the hotel.

The place is a paradise for those who love natural beauty in the day as it has over 24 acres of gardens, but by night, this place becomes haunted. The locals say that there used to be a man who was killed in an attack and ever since then he comes to the park every night to look for his lost love.
