Berhampur: In a tragic incident, a youth and his mother were electrocuted to death after coming in contact with a live wire at their house in Bakut village under Khallikote block of Ganjam district Thursday.
The deceased have been identified as Sajani Nahaka (55) and her son Narayan (30). Narayan first came in contact with the live wire. Hearing his screams, his mother tried to come to his rescue. In the process she also got electrocuted. A pall of gloom descended on the village as the news of the tragic incident spread.
Narayan’s wife informed that her husband was carrying out some electrical repairing work when he got came in touch with the wire. She stated that she put of the main switch, but by then both the mother-son duo was unconscious. The two were taken to the Khallikote Community Health Centre (CHC) where both were declared brought dead by Dr Pradeep Gantayat.
Bhejiput police personnel Sushant Kumar Pradhan reached the spot and initiated investigation into the matter. He also sent the bodies for post-mortem to Berhampur by registering a case of unnatural death.
