Bhubaneswar, Oct 29: The stasttdsqadAte tourism department has decided to train the auto-rickshaw drivers from the city in order to bring uniformity among the transport players who are keys to boosting tourism and hospitality sector.
In order to train the auto drivers, a training programme has been prepared on the premises of the Indian Institute of Tourism and Travel Management (IITTM), Dumduma, which is likely to see convergence of a number of auto drivers who are expected to get lessons from trained hospitality experts on how to behave with travellers and learn some key features during their training sessions.
The training sessions will start October 29 and will be inaugurated by tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda and attended by tourism secretary L N Gupta.
This comes at a time when many hospitality experts from the city are trying to bring in tourism trade legislation which mandates training to all stakeholders of the sector to bring uniformity in terms of fare, distance and other parameters. Unlike other states, Orissa still does not have a legislation to govern the tourism and hospitality sector.
