Cuttack, August 22: Loyala School, Bhubaneswar will meet DAV, Chandrasekharpur of the same town in the final of the senior girls’ team event of the State Inter-School table Tennis Tournament at the Barabati Stadium here. In the Saturday semifinals, Loyala spanked Sai International, Bhubaneswar 3-0. DAV thrashed DPS Kalinga, Cuttack with the identical margin.
In the junior boys’ event, KIIT International, Bhubaneswar will face DPS Kalinga, Cuttack in the final. In the first semifinal, KIIT drubbed DAV CDA, Cuttack 3-0, while DPS thumped SAI International with the same margin.
Stewart School, Cuttack will lock horns with DAV Chandrasekharpur, Bhubaneswar in the Junior Girls’ event final. DAV beat SBD Bhadrak 3-0, while Stewart scraped past St. Joseph 3-1 in their respective semifinals.
In the senior boys’ event, KIIT International beat DPS Damanjodi, while DAV, Chandrasekharpur triumphed over Eng. Med. School, Rourkela respectively to advance into the final round.
In the cadet girls’ singles event, Sushree Patnaik of Khurda will play her last league match with Anusweta Hembram of Rourkela, Sunday, for the final positions.
In the youth boys’ singles round, Bikash Singh, Janmejaya Moharana and Sunny Singh of Rourkela, Ved Prakash and P Sachin of KIIT, Sudeep Behera and M Eswar of Cuttack entered the quarterfinals.
In the YGTTA All Orissa Open Table Tennis Championship, Sushree Patnaik (Khurda), Anesweata Hembram (RSP), Bhabya Bharadwaj (DAV, Chandrasekharpur) qualified to play the semifinals of the cadet girls’ singles event.
