Sajanagad: There was no let-up in elephant menace in Nilagiri area of Balasore district as elephants strayed from Kuladiha sanctuary into villages Wednesday night.
One of the elephants damaged the house of a Mahendra Pradhan at Jokananda in Jadida panchayat. The tusker also damaged all paddy and rice stocks inside the house. However, the family members managed to escape from the house. Pradhan’s family spent the night at the house of his neighbour.
Local people were panicked after such elephant attack. They demanded that the forest department take immediate steps to shoo away the animals from the area.
