Two govt officials held for ‘misappropriating’ climate change adaptation grants

Bhubaneswar/Nuapada: The anti-corruption wing of Odisha Police Thursday arrested a retired Chief District Veterinary Officer (CDVO) and a staff of the Animal Husbandry department on the charge of embezzling Rs 18 lakh central adaptation grants for climate change.

“Trilochan Dhal, former CDVO of Nuapada district, and Ashok Kumar Dau, statistical enumerator posted at the office of CDVO, Nuapada, have been arrested for misappropriation of government money of over Rs 18 lakhs by way of transferring it to the personal account of Dau allotted under National Adaptation Funds for Climate Change (NAFCC),” the anti-corruption wing said in a statement.

Cases have been registered against the duo under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Code. They will be later produced before the court, read the statement.
