Brahmagiri: Family members of a two-month-old girl staged a demonstration in front of the hospital after the baby died after she was given a dose of polio vaccine in Puri district. The deceased has been identified as Priyanka Biswal from Naranpur village under Brahmagiri police limits.
The parents of the baby alleged that the baby died due to the reactions created by the immunization vaccine.
According to family members, the child was taken by her parents to Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) for immunisation Wednesday morning. She was injected polio vaccine (IPV), pentavalent vaccine and other vitamin supplement.
However, after intake of the polio drops, the child’s condition deteriorated on the way back home Later she breathed her last Thursday night. Tension erupted with the family members alleging that the medical staff was responsible for the infant’s death.
