Niali: The killing of sheep by an unidentified creature continues unabated in different villages under Niali block with two more animals falling prey to the predator Saturday night.
Sources said they are yet to identify the ‘mysterious’ creature that entered the sheep shed of Sambhu Mallick in Nuagaon panchayat Saturday night, killed two sheep and left another injured.
Expressing his grief, Mallick said, “I had borrowed money on interest and bought the three sheep. The unknown creature has hit my livelihood. Now, how can I repay the loan?”
Notably, the unknown creature has killed more than 60 sheep in different villages in the block in the past one month spreading panic among the farmers. “While the predator continues to attack and kill sheep, the state government and forest department seem least bothered to nab it. The government and forest department should take immediate measures to catch the unknown creature,” the locals demanded.
