United fightback to snatch late win

Turin: Manchester United scored two late goals to come from behind to snatch an extraordinary and barely-deserved 2-1 win at Juventus while Real Madrid rode on Karim Benzema brace to thrash Viktoria Plzen in the Champions League, Wednesday.

Elsewhere at Manchester, Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick, including two penalties, as Manchester City marched closer to the knockout stage crushing Shakhtar Donetsk 6-0 at the Etihad Stadium.

Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for home team when he volleyed in the 65th minute after Juventus had dominated proceedings and struck the woodwork twice.

Spaniard Mata equalised for United in the 86th minute before an own goal from Alex Sandro gave the Jose Mourinho’s side to revive their hopes of making it to the last 16.

Elsewhere at Doosan Arena, Los Blancos took a huge step forward of clinching a knockout spot with a 5-0 rout of Czech first division champions to hand interim coach Santiago Solari his first Champions League win.

Benzema opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Casemiro doubled the lead three minutes later. An unmarked Benzema notched his second goal in the 37th minute with a redirected header assisted by Gareth Bale to give Real a 3-0 lead.

Benzema returned the favour minutes later when he flicked on a cross for Bale to sweep home a volley five minutes before half time before Toni Kroos completed the scoring in the 67th minute.

Meanwhile, David Silva (13th), Raheem Sterling (48th), Riyad Mahrez (84th) struck in addition to Jesus’s hat-trick to crush Shakhtar Donetsk to inch closer of a last 16 spot.
