Lucknow (UP): Festive seasons are here and so are old memories. Sparse Diwali pistols were a thing of joy for every kid in the past. The pistol, cartridge reel and the sound ‘thain thain’(mimicking gunshots) made every kid a cop imposter at some point.
You might have forgotten the game but UP Police sure remembered the tactics involved when their pistol faltered, October 12, during an encounter with criminals in Sambhal district.
A video of the incident that took place October 12, has recently surfaced on social media.
In the video, a police officer can be heard shouting ‘maaro, maaro, ghero, thain, thain with the intension of scaring the criminals.
On being asked about the incident, a senior cop told reporters, “This was due to a technical glitch of the weapon that the officer was carrying, such things are not new and may happen at times. With regard to cop shouting, it is tact to deal with criminals mentally and create pressure on them to surrender.”
During the course of the encounter, one police personnel sustained injuries, while a criminal was nabbed after being shot. The said criminal was wanted in a number of robbery cases and was carrying an award of Rs. Twenty five thousand on his head.
