Bhubaneswar, Dec 28: Environmental issues and moods of women were in focus at a contemporary and traditional art exhibition at IRC Village.
The exhibition, which was inaugurated December 24 and will continue till January 4, showcases more than 40 paintings of 18 well-known and promising artists of the state.
The highlight of the exhibition were the paintings that were on different themes. Most of the works were acrylic on canvas.
The work of JP Das, a cardiologist as well as an artist, depicted Two Faces of Women.
“The painting speaks of the two types of moods of women that are apparent at a time. Besides being a doctor, Das is a passionate painter and an art lover respected by the fraternity,” said Dhiran Das, director of OIC which organised the exhibition.
The paintings by award-winning artist Bijay Mallick highlighting environmental issues such as conservation of natural resources and water attracted art lovers. Others that drew attention included the painting of a lion with cubs titled Waiting for a New Morning and the one titled Tribal Girl.
The work of a promising young artist Anuradha Pradhan, which was based on the theme of emotions, also attracted art lovers. Sculptures which were tastefully placed in the centre of the exhibition hall were also prime attractions.
