Cuttack, Feb 24: Vigilance sleuths Wednesday conducted simultaneous raids on the residences of Athagarh Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Sudhansu Sekhar Mishra in connection with a disproportionate assets case and found the accused possessed properties worth `5, 92, 93, 178.
According to Vigilance officials, Mishra’s rented house at Gouda Sahi in Cuttack, his office chamber in Athagarh, his paternal home at Gadabhitar in Subarnapur district, another paternal house at SRIT Colony in Sambalpur, a building at Bijakhaman Rugudipada in Bolangir, an apartment (No.1071) in Seven Hills Sand, Puri, another 3BHK apartment (No. 203) near ITER University, Bhubaneswar, a double storied building at Pandav Nagar, Bhubaneswar, and his father-in-law’s house at Bhawanipatna, were simultaneously searched on the strength of search warrants issued by a court.
“After verification of Mishra’s documents, we conducted the raids at 10 places,” said Vigilance director Rajendra Prasad Sharma.
“The raids are under way. His property details can be ascertained after the completion of the investigation,” he added.
According to Vigilance officials, Mishra had joined government service in March 1987 as ACF (Class-II) and had undergone training for a year at Guwahati Forest Training College. After the training, he was posted in Khurda, Dhama, Bhawanipatna, Sambalpur and Khariar division till April, 2007.
Thereafter, he was promoted to the rank of DFO (Class-I) in OFS Cadre in May, 2007 and was posted to Angul and Berhampur before his Athagarh posting.
“Mishra’s movable assets include Rs 2, 61, 97, 151 of fixed deposits in post offices, banks and Sahara India,Rs 93, 61, 780 from his rented house in Cuttack, Rs 93,23,762 deposited in SBI, and other banks and post offices in addition to Rs 19,13,338 in insurance policies.
His immovable assets include `37, 23, 300 in Bhubaneswar, plot worth Rs 15, 00, 000 in Gopalpur and a double-storied building in Bhubaneswar worth `29, 28, 000. His total immovable and movable assets amount to Rs 5, 92, 93, 178,” Vigilance officials added.
Sources said Vigilance officials have found traces of Mishra’s alleged links with notorious Dhalasamanta brothers Sushant and Sushil. However, these claims have been outrightly rejected by the Vigilance director.
According to some sources, the agency has arrested Mishra. However, this could not be confirmed immediately.
