Angul: Police have arrested a man on the charge of raping a housewife at Kusasingha village in this district. He was fellow villager Rohit Khilar. Produced before a court, he has confessed to the crime, investigating officer Sabitri Panda said.
The incident occurred Friday night. In the absence of the woman’s husband, Khilar knocked on the victim’s door on the pretext of some repair work. The victim opened the door and let Khilar inside.
Taking advantage, Khilar allegedly gagged the woman and raped her. “He threatened to kill her husband and children if she revealed the incident to anyone. However, the victim arrived at the police station late at night and lodged a written complaint. The arrest followed the next day,” police said.
