Sambalpur: The problem of doctors’ shortage at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR) is expected to be over as the state Health and Family Welfare Department has announced incentives to attract quality doctors as faculty members for broad specialty and super specialty departments.
As per its notification No 13010/H, dated 01.05.2018, the specialty incentives for the post of professor, associate professor and assistant professor are Rs 1.25 lakh, Rs 1.00 lakh and Rs 0.50 lakh respectively and the super specialty incentives are Rs 2.00 lakh, Rs 1.5 lakh and Rs 1.00 lakh respectively. The incentives being given are over and above their regular entitled monthly salary.
The notification letter has clarified that since the approval from the Finance Department has already been obtained, there is no need for any apprehension on the part of eligible doctors to join VIMSAR faculties.
It further added that faculties in the pre-clinical and para-clinical disciplines like anatomy, physiology, bio-chemistry, pharmacology, forensic medicine and toxicology (FMT), pathology, micro-biology and community medicine will be getting additional incentives at the rate of Rs 20,000 each as per the post they hold. The top posts like Dean, Principal and Superintendent will be also entitled to the incentives as per the post they hold.
The notification further said that the incentives are admissible to faculties till the doctors hold their posts at VIMSAR and are governed by rules applicable during their leave periods.
